Install for Firefox 3.0 to 22.0, SeaMonkey 1.0 to 2.19, and Netscape 9.

For Mozilla Suite 1.7, Netscape 7, and Netscape 8, please use Flashblock 1.3.15 (scroll down for the installation link).

IMPORTANT! Please see the Known Problems page before installing
If you are reinstalling or upgrading to a newer version of Flashblock you MUST remove the existing installation of flashblock first (not needed for Firefox 1.5 and newer, and Flock).

Netscape 8 users will need to download and install multibarfix-0.1.1 if you want to use the Flashblock toolbar button.

Installation Click on one of the links below to install Flashblock. Note that you must restart your browser for flashblock to be enabled.

Install Flashblock 1.3.unstable for Firefox 4.0+ and SeaMonkey 2.0 to 2.19a. WARNING: This is the developmental version containing the latest features but is untested and may contain unknown bugs. USE AT YOUR OWN RISK!

Known Issues:
  • Some flash in IFRAMEs is not blocked. This appears to be a Mozilla bug. See: Bug 652300.

Install Flashblock 1.3.17 for Firefox 2.0+, SeaMonkey 1.0 to 2.1b, and Netscape 9.0.x.

  • [fix] Bug 18971 Please integrate nicely with content blockers (Adblock Plus).

  • [fix] Bug 20817 Make Flowplayer work with Flashblock instead of offering to download the .flv file. Includes a followup fix to include other formats offered for download including .MP4
  • Ongoing refactoring of Flashblock code.
  • Detect more broken flash and stealth flash objects.
  • Add ".*" to the end of the whitelist strings during compare so users don't have to do this manually.
  • Initial support for blocking Silverlight. Thanks to Sven Schneider for the silverlight buttons
